Creating free leads with Video

by Jan Shimano

For all of us who are involved in the internet marketing business, generating quality leads is our biggest hurdle. We could have the best deal out there and the coolest looking website but if we are not attracting visitors to that site, then it’s all for nothing.

One way that people are having success is by using video marketing.

There are many video websites out there, but at the moment YouTube appears to be head and shoulders above all the rest. It’s very easy to use and it’s also free to join. The only expense you have is purchasing a webcam. You can get one for less than $100.00. A camcorder produces a better image, but YouTube is not all about the quality of the picture. Content is ‘king’ when it comes to video. I edit my videos using my Windows MovieMaker. It has some really neat features and you can make your video look quite professional. YouTube also has features on their site to personalize your video.

I suggest that each time you use your webcam to produce a video, you check your settings. It is very sensitive to the light sources in the room and you might have to make adjustments with your drapes, etc. It’s worth taking the extra minute to do this.

After you have recorded your video you will then want to edit it. One of the main things to do at this stage is to superimpose your website address at various points in your video. You can also make comments that pertain to what you were saying right at that moment. It adds variety to the video and makes it more interesting for the viewer. If you dont put your website address on the video, and it gets forwarded to someone else, they will have no way of connecting with you.

When it comes to putting your website address on your YouTube page, I have one little tip. Make sure that it is the first thing you type into your information box. Put in the full address with the http://. It will then be highlighted in blue and will make it very easy for people to click on. Some people have typed it in at the end in their information box, and as YouTube only shows the first line or two of that information, unless the person clicks on ‘more info’ they will not automatically see the address.

Many people are very nervous about doing videos. My best advice to them is to be as natural as you can be. Just imagine that you were talking to a close friend and it was just the two of you in the room. Look directly into the camera and don’t be afraid to smile or laugh. Show your personality!! Do as many practice videos as you need. You can just erase these after you have examined them to see how you can improve. You do not upload these practice videos, unless of course you are happy with them.

Think about the type of person that you are trying to attract into your business and dress accordingly. Our ultimate goal to to motivate the viewer to visit our website. Always keep this uppermost in your mind. Make sure you extend the invitation at the end of your video. Ask them outright to click on your website and enter their name and e-mail address so you can provide them with more information.

So let’s say you now have your first video up on YouTube….. to generate all these free leads you are going to have to maximize this video. Post it to other sites, such as your FaceBook or MySpace pages. Also blog about it. This is what the search engines are looking for.

Making videos can be lots of fun and you are building your business at the same time.
