The Spongebob Squarepants Show – The Most Watched On TV For Your Children

by Trevor Gartreese

SpongeBob SquarePants show is one of the most popular animated TV series broadcast not only in the United States but around the world as well. The father of the characters is a former marine biologist, Stephen Hillenburg who created the show through the company he owned: United Plankton Pictures. The show can be watched on Nicktoons Network, and the awards have not been few for this production. The pilot episode of SpongeBob SquarePants show was launched on May 1, 1999, followed by other episodes that gained more popularity from 2000 onwards.

The episodes in SpongeBob SquarePants show lack continuity, which is a great advantage for anyone to watch it without missing previous events or contexts. Many of the characters have a tragic fate, but they are soon returned to normal. Eugene Krabs’ restaurant in Bikini bottom gets destroyed several times, and every time it seems like it’s the end.

Many of these apparently horrific events occur because one of SpongeBob’s mishaps. The great part of this cartoon series is that adults and children can watch it alike: some subtleties and ironies will often escape the understanding of children but will surely entertain older watchers.

One of the elements that differentiates SpongeBob SquarePants show from lots of Nickelodeon productions is the participation of lots of independent musicians to the soundtrack of the series. Flaming Lips, Wilco or Twisted Sister are just a few names here, but a presence like that of David Bowie will not pass unnoticed, and this was obvious in the Atlantis SquarePantis episode of 2007. This episode had the largest level of audience in the entire history of the SpongeBob SquarePants show. Then, another connection between the series and the music world was at the initiative of Metallica to release t-shirts featuring the group members playing live with the characters of SpongeBob and Patrick.

The popularity of the show increased to such an extent that MTV started broadcasting it, this time targeting the teenage audience-group category. Certain lines from the series also entered common speech, as it is the case with the famous quote – it’s gonna rock – from Mid-Life Crustacean. The quote was taken over by rock radio stations and soon entered the language of many rock fans and adolescents. SpongeBob SquarePants show has definitely made history, and it can surely make one laugh heartily on any episode.
