Cast includes Nikolai Cherkassov; Serafima Birman, Mikhail Nazvanov, Pavel Kadochnikov, and Andrei Abrikosov. (88 minutes, 1946)

The Ploughman’s Lunch - Complicated, cynical condemnation of British behaviors, ethics and affairs of state, focusing on the maneuvers of absolutely egocentric journalist (Pryce) and others throughout the Falklands battle. The motion picture is rather perceptive, within the restraints of its outlook. Cast includes Jonathan Pryce, Tim Curry, Rosemary Harris, Blunt Finlay, and Charlie Dore. (100 minutes, 1983)

Strange Interlude - A Eugene O’Neill play that shows the complex web of the variation between our thoughts and our words. Norma Shearer is cast as a woman who lost the love of her life when he was shot down in WWI. The movie speaks of romances and marriages between Nina and three men, only one of whom she loves. It is about growing old without settling their complications. This is a consuming film, with Shearer at her shining best. The cast list includes Norma Shearer, Clark Gable, Might Robson, Maureen O’Sullivan, Robert Youthful, Ralph Morgan, Henry B. Walthall, and Alexander Kirkland. (110 minutes, 1932)

Lunatics and Lovers - Aristocrat Mastroianni has a fictional spouse; an organ grinder persuades hooker Mori to “impersonate” her. While it’s not unintelligent, it’s unexciting. Cast includes Marcello Mastroianni, Claudia Mori, Lino Morelli, Flora Carabella, and Adriano Celentano. (93 minutes, 1976)

Jerry Maguire - Jerry is an agent for a top Sports Management group. When he is terminated, he expects his client to come along with him as he sets out on his own. All of a sudden Jerry realizes that he has no genuine friends in this cutthroat, dog eat dog, business. Down to one client and one assistant, Jerry fights to build himself a business.

The Last Time I Saw Archie - Webb’s solitary try at comedy is less farcical than some of his more earnest films; a shame, since William Bowers’ script-based on his own Army experiences had actual potential, and Mitchum agreeably underplays as the con guy. By the way, the genuine Archie Chamber sued for invasion of privacy. Cast includes Robert Mitchum, Jack Webb, Martha Hyer, France Nuyen, Louis Nye, Richard Arlen, Don Tangles, Joe Flynn, and Robert Strauss. (98 minutes, 1961)
